Panteón Rococó Books Estadio GNP Seguros for the Anniversary, Then Steps Away

After that the band stops. Speaking to Publimetro this month, Panteón Rococó said it would take an indefinite time away, and that the Guadalajara show would probably be its last there for a good while. Nobody has put a length on the break.

The Guadalajara bill carries some history of its own. Los Auténticos Caligaris is the shared project of Los Caligaris and Los Auténticos Decadentes, and Panteón Rococó told Publimetro that Los Decadentes had been grandes maestros to both it and Los Caligaris. The band also tied the city to its own family history in Jalisco, which makes a last show there for a good while heavier than a tour stop.

A school band at thirty

The band came together in 1995 at Escuela Nacional Preparatoria 9 in Mexico City, while its members were still students, and it has spent the decades since as what Infobae calls a reference point for ska and rock mestizo in Latin America. Luis Román Ibarra, known as Dr. Shenka, fronts it. The most recent studio album, Sonoro, came out in 2025, and the band told Publimetro that stepping off the stage is not the same as stopping writing: there is always more music to put out, and more to compose.

The show itself is long by design. The band told Publimetro that a night runs past two hours and moves between the classics, newer songs, covers and jokes; Infobae's announcement leaned on the old ones, La Carencia, La Dosis Perfecta and Vendedora de Caricias, as the songs a stadium will be waiting for.

The anniversary year has been about range as much as size. On 30 May the band played a free show at Deportivo Ciudad Jardín in Nezahualcóyotl, part of the Festival Ecos de Oriente; N+ reported that more than 120 thousand people came, citing the federal Secretaría de Cultura. On Sunday 13 September it was in Bogotá, on the second day of Festival Cordillera at Parque Simón Bolívar, on a bill with Ricky Martin, Caifanes and Kany García.

The stadium is a different kind of night: ticketed, and on the band's home ground. Infobae, reporting the closing date in August, put the crowd Estadio GNP Seguros can hold at more than sixty-five thousand, and general sale opened through Ticketmaster on 13 August.

What we are not telling you

We are not reporting why the band is stepping back. That is the band's to explain, and in what we read it has said only that the time away is indefinite. We are not guessing at how long it will last.

Nor are we saying what comes after. The band named places it still wants to take the show, Japan and Australia among them, and said it would keep writing; none of that has a date.

Our file is thinner than the year. It holds no ticket counts, the Monterrey date reached us only through listings, and our registry leaves the band's genre unassigned, which for a group so plainly identified with ska says more about our tagging than about the music.
